About HandymanCan

HandymanCan was built with one mission: help independent handymen own their online presence.

How It Started

Last year I needed a handyman to fix a leaking faucet and patch some drywall. Simple stuff. But finding someone trustworthy turned into a week-long headache.

I tried Thumbtack — got matched with five people, couldn't tell who was actually good. I tried Angi — half the profiles looked abandoned. I asked on Nextdoor — got a name and a phone number, but no website, no photos of past work, no way to know if this person was legit.

When I finally found a great handyman through a friend's recommendation, I asked him: "Why don't you have a website?" He laughed. "I'm a handyman, not a web designer. And those lead platforms take a cut of everything."

That conversation stuck with me.

The Problem

80% of handymen are independent operators. Most don't have a website. They rely on word of mouth, Facebook posts, and Craigslist ads. When a potential customer Googles their name — nothing comes up.

The existing platforms aren't built for them. Thumbtack and Angi charge for leads, take commissions, and lock reviews inside walled gardens. The customer belongs to the platform, not the handyman. And for homeowners? Pricing is opaque, reviews feel unreliable, and you never know what you're actually going to get.

What We Do Differently

HandymanCan gives every handyman a free, professional profile page they can set up in 5 minutes. One link that works on business cards, text messages, social media, and vehicle wraps.

Your profile shows what matters: your services, your rates, your service area, before-and-after photos of real work, and honest two-way reviews where both the handyman and the homeowner rate each other.

No lead fees. No commissions. No walled gardens. Your customers are yours. Your reputation is yours.

Why Transparency Matters

We built the review system to be fair to both sides. Reviews are sealed until both parties submit — so nobody can retaliate, and nobody can game the system. What you see on a HandymanCan profile is what real people actually experienced.

For homeowners, that means you can trust what you read. For handymen, that means your good work actually speaks for itself.
